And on the fourteenth night, the magical (?) two week mark, my wonderful, adorable son was put to sleep at 7:45pm with no crying. I patiently waited for a half an hour for the piercing cries to begin. NOTHING. I took a shower. STILL NOTHING .
You won't believe this... I still don't believe it... He went to bed with no crying and woke up at 6:30 this am! How, you ask? I haven't a clue! Oh do I wish I knew HOW! I could bottle the answer and make a mint!
Collin started yesterday with a nap at 8am. A good nap - 45 whole minutes! That's allot for him. I was encouraged! Then I tried to put him down various other times during the day and into the early evening - nope. He took two 10 minute naps! Oy! And guess who was sooo tired by 4pm that he cried in my arms for almost two hours... o!!! oh!!! ohhhhh!!!! haha... THAT IS IT! Have your child get the crying out before bedtime and then they won't cry at bedtime?! Sooo.... maybe the crying is a release of energy - he's not really crying because he's going to bed, maybe he's crying to get rid of enough energy to be able to go to bed? Does that make any sense?
If that's the case, then how do I get him to spend some energy without crying??? Hmmm... I've been so worried about over stimulation that maybe he needs more stimulation?! My goodness, I don't know if I have the energy to entertain more than what i'm doing now! Any suggestions?
hmmmmm well Im glad he slept. Naybe he does need alittle more stimulation like you said. Makes sense to me. If he's not getting enough he needs to release that energy when you put him down for bed......... If I remember right at this age Gabe was only taking 3 naps anyways hmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteBut also Gabe would would sometimes make it thru the day with only ONE at that age I would be amazed that he could do it (which made me think he needed to do more stuff)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Liz, I'm just not sure of what else we should be doing. I know once the nice weather is here it will be easier but for now? We play with just about every toy he has multiple times a day!! Lol
ReplyDeleteHi Jess, Molly is also napping much less now she's sleeping through the night; the only way we can knock her out is to take her for a drive or a walk. Does Collin respond to either one?
ReplyDeleteDearest Daughter, Do you realize, that in 14 days, you've decreased his bedtime crying from 110 minutes to 15? You are a miracle worker! Your perserverance has had awesome results. Going through it must have seemed like 140 days, but it was 14 - beginning to now. I am very proud of you. Rock on - Mommy of the Year!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Mom
Thanks Mom!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, yes. Collin will knock out in the car and sometimes on a walk but the moment I take him out of the car/stroller he's up. He did take a decent nap this am, and it's nice so maybe I'll try the stroller later. I just want to avoid the long crying jags, you know ? :)
